Click2learn Japan Launches e-Learning Network; New Company
Poised to Take the Lead in Growing Japanese e-Learning Market

Business/High-Tech Editors

BELLEVUE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 1, 2001--Click2learn (Nasdaq:CLKS) today announced the launch of its strategic e-Learning solutions business to Japanese business professionals via Click2learn Japan, a joint venture between Click2learn, two Softbank (OTC:SFTBF) companies -- Softbank Media & Marketing Corp. & Softbank Forums Japan, Inc -- and Toppan Forms Co., Ltd.

The company was formed to provide the Japanese corporate training market with e-Learning courses on computer skills, professional development and management training.

"As Japan's organizations adapt their businesses to respond to the changing global market, they are restructuring their workforces as well, employing younger workers and more part-time and contract workers than ever before. As a result, the need for quick and efficient training methods is on the rise, and e-Learning is being used to accelerate organizational readiness and increase human performance," said Kevin Oakes, president and CEO of Click2learn.

"The Japanese e-Learning market is expected to be a $10 billion market in this decade, and I believe we have an incredibly strong team in place to capitalize on this market. Softbank and Toppan Forms' experience and demonstrated leadership in Japan's training and information industries -- combined with Click2learn's 15 years of expertise in learning strategies -- will enable us to develop learning solutions uniquely targeted to Japanese learners and organizations," Oakes said.

Japan's first e-Learning solutions will be delivered through Click2learn's e-Learning Network, an Internet-based, ASP platform that enables companies to create and manage their own proprietary online learning programs from a standard web browser. Companies can create customized online courses or select courses within Click2learn's extensive library of Japanese business programs. Content can be delivered to individuals involved at any level of the business value chain -- from employees to distributors, vendors, business partners and customers -- to improve business performance.

Toppan Forms, one of Japan's leading providers of business forms and comprehensive information management services, will market Click2learn Japan courses, services and strategic expertise to its 30,000 clients throughout the nation.
