I have no independent knowledge to know if there were embellishment or not. I doubt there was deliberate distortion, but it is possible that rumors got out of hand. The main thing is that it seems at least as likely to me that Bush is, in fact, putting the lid on making this a major issue, out of a sense of dignity, and the desire not to have it become a major media issue, as that there is backing off because they cannot substantiate.........

Dear Patricia: I happen to agree with Neocon, there were just TOO MANY eye witnesses for the thing to have been a fabrication. However, I NEVER heard anyone in the Bush camp make a big deal of it, ESPECIALLY, our President. I just think the media finally became aware that the IN powers dont want to push it and of course the OUT powers were always a media favorite so THEY have now conspired together to just FORGET THE MATTER. This is so inconsequential I dont know why we even discuss it.
We need to discuss the economy and what should be done to kickstart it again before we get in over our heads. The best way to please everyone requires a strong economy. Without it it would be difficult to enact any programs of any significance. JDN
