Of course his story will change. Things will begin improving (or getting worse)...that's what economies do. What do you think, these are static environments he works in? We are absolutely approaching zero growth. Advertising is usually a good gauge of what people are doing and the ad market is dead because they have little cash and are trying to burn down inventories. Your dislike of AG is oddly unrelated to the facts surrounding many of his decisions.
