CacheFlow Lowers Revenue Expectations For Third Quarter Fiscal 2001 SUNNYVALE, Calif., Feb 1, 2001 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- CacheFlow Inc. (Nasdaq: CFLO chart, msgs) today announced that revenue and operating results for its third quarter ended January 31, 2001, will be below the company's previous expectations. Revenue for the third quarter is now expected to be in the range of $20 to $21 million. "While CacheFlow's long-term outlook and market position are strong, recent macro-economic uncertainty and resulting customer delays in making capital expenditures have had a significant effect on revenue. In addition, the market for our caching appliance is increasingly competitive and is evolving to a richer and more sophisticated content management and distribution solution. This represents a greater opportunity for CacheFlow products in the longer term but also causes a lengthening of purchasing cycles," said Brian NeSmith, CacheFlow president and chief executive officer. The company is taking actions to reduce its overall cost of operations in light of this quarter's results. These measures include aggressively managing headcount and bringing overall spending more in line with expected revenue. Actual results for the third quarter ended January 31, 2001 and further details on the company's expectations for the remainder of fiscal year 2001, will be reported on February 6, 2001. NeSmith continued, "While a rapidly changing market and an uncertain macro-economic environment have affected results, we remain confident in the long-term prospects of the markets we target and believe that solid business disciplines, our global presence, our considerable technology resources, and a strong balance sheet, will allow us to respond to existing challenges in the marketplace. We are currently re-structuring the company to address these challenges and are confident in our ability to re-establish growth over the long-term."
