I couldn't agree with your statement more!

JDN,

I do believe you have hit the nail, exactly, on the head. Mankind has twisted, and interpreted, the Word to fit the agendas of particular groups. Mankind is far too much in love with itself.

--Have you noticed that all the Major Monolethic Religions are pretty much SIMILAR? I have often wondered whether or not their might just be One God who, when presented to mankind, appeared slighly different in the eyes of the beholder and thus was somewhat differently described however in the important stuff really came out to be the same? It may just be that it is mankind who came up with these different religions NOT GOD. --

yes, this is sort of what i'm trying to say. that's why i am saddened when someone from a given faith takes me aside and starts telling me how their faith and their scriptures are the best and that the each of the others is somehow, 'impure' or 'provisional.'

that's also why i loved it when ronnie james dio sang,

we pray to someone
when all is said and done
it's really all the same
with just a different name

now, being the son of a minister myself this is kind of scary (being on the wrong side of the tracks on judgement day), but i don't know what other conclusion to come to, for there are seemingly saints and scoundrels of every religion, faith, and creed.

in any case i think that everyone who has ever lived deserves 'slack.'

i am also certain that G-d controls everything in the end.

so one might consider a person of this view a sort of post-modern calvinist in this age, rife with the spirit of armenius. perhaps the truth is somewhere in between and the human mind cannot even fathom it.
