I watched some more Ashcroft stuff on tv this morning (Boxer speech, Bob Dole comments, repub senator from miss? (not Lott)). Anyway, I think the case against Ashcroft is VERY flimsy. You had said you wouldn't vote for him because he is a liar, but I still don't hear the dems saying it. Their case IS that he is so conservative that he wont uphold the law. It is a LUDICROUS position in my mind and will not serve the dems well. Bob Dole mentioned that he voted against one of Carter's picks and he spent the next five years apologizing for it. They will see that he is an honorable man who does uphold the law, and they will be the ones having to explain their attacks on his integrity.

If you truly believe he will not uphold the law I must question your ability to make a judgement (in this case at least). I suspect it is more that you don't like him or what he believes in and you are letting that prejudice the decision that the senate is supposed to be making, which is if he is qualified for the job. Why is it that it is politically incorrect to attack jews, blacks, gays, women or basically anyone except Christians? The dems have a funny way of looking at things. I am not super religious (although I do believe in God). Badmouthing christians and their values seems like something that might tick him off.
