I am bullish on wireless, but it's going to be a tough year in 2001. Any investments in wireless should be done with 3rd generation wireless(data) in mind. I like QCOM because it's 2.5G standard has not experienced the delays and himming and hawing that other standards like GPRS and EDGE have. Those latest two standards are what Europe (as well as ATT Wireless) expected to use this year, and all operators are being told to expect delays of at least 6 months while they try to get handsets to work properly without overheating and draining the batteries too quickly.
The european operators were counting on NOK to provide that technology on a timely basis and it's just not happening. Nokia's development of CDMA equipment is sorely lacking and if GPRS and EDGE can't be done properly, I don't think they will be able to jump to 3G very effectively. JMHO.
