I have long felt that the S&P COT is suspect -- I track it more out of curiosity to see how the current commercial short position will resolve itself. Here is a possible explanation by someone much wiser than I: users.qwest.net

How bout the conspiracy theory answer:

the big banks are net short cuz they gona get caught on their forward selling gold game and gata has nice court date on march 15th spillover effect kinda like LTFC crisis all over again... the ball is rolling... lol
