iamasia ANNOUNCES CHINA’S MOST-VISITED WEB DOMAIN NAMES AND WEB PROPERTIES FOR HOME INTERNET USERS, DECEMBER 2000

Hong Kong - Internet measurement specialist iamasia (Interactive Audience Measurement Asia) today announced the top web domain names and web properties for home Internet users in China, ranked according to the total, unduplicated number of unique users during the month of December 2000.

The top three positions in the monthly rankings, unchanged in the prior four months, showed movement in December. The domain with the largest home audience in December was sina.com.cn, visited by just over half of all home Internet users in China during the month, or 4,080,000 people.

E-card site kaxiu.com leapt 24 places in the rankings to finish 12th in the December list, reflecting the popularity of e-cards during the holiday season.

December 2000 featured a shakeup in not only the domain rankings but also the web property rankings, with the SOHU family of sites topping the list for the first time since measurement began, with a total home audience of 4,350,000 people. Cardshow Arts entered the top 15 for the first time this month, following the strong performance of its kaxiu.com domain.

This information is based on data collected around the clock from iamasia's representative panel of home Internet users in 18 cities across China. The panel data is weighted and then projected to the entire home Internet-user population in the PRC. Definitions:

Web property

A combination of related web sites and pages owned by the same company. For example, Microsoft is the owner of microsoft.com, msn.com, passport.com and windowsmedia.com.

Unique users

The number of individuals who visited a particular website during the reported period.

Reach

Reach, expressed as a percentage, represents the number of unique home users divided by the total number of home Internet users during the reported time period (in this case, the month of December 2000).
