Ali,

I am sure it costed something but it is tough to estimate what it is.

It is easy to estimate what AMD lost by not getting the laptop side ready ~ 50% of US retail notebook share. At least 1Mu in mobile shipments each quarter from Q3 2000 (assuming AMD kept business at K6 level). In reality this number would have been closer to 2Mu given AMD had a much more competitive MHz offering. At $100 ASP, that is $100-200M per quarter. And, this doesn't even include any forays AMD could have made into the corporate market with such an offering.
