I was referring to the more general case. I did not know the particulars of that case. Furthermore, the disk cache comments still apply to any sequences.

BTW, a funny story about that particular 1GB Linux box, is that when the main root drive crashed, I created a RAM drive of 768MB and loaded the whole CDROM system on it and then ran off that to rebuild and recover the data off the hard drive (failure was a head crash into the boot area and first superblock) then to rebuild system on the new drive. Linux is very fast when running off a RAM drive.
