When folks realize a recession is 'here' prices are going to come down and come down fast on anything carrying a high PE. This will be the fastest 'recession' on record though (my opinion).. 'fast' as far as the stock market is concerned that is.

Do you think folks will already be pricing in a recession tomorrow? That may not really happen until April earnings season, imo.

Why is everyone convinced this economic slowdown will only last two quarters? That's not what history would suggest. I think even John Chambers was quite clear that it's going to be sorta wait and see.
