Ed,

I guess I base my Naz 3,000 on the "I wish it would happen" theory.

I got into tech's because they were:

1. over sold,

quote.com

2. tax selling further exaggerated their declines to the ridiculous in some cases,

3. their was a record amounts of cash on the side lines

4. their were near record shorts in the market

5. often market sector losers in one year become market leaders the next.

6. the fed was way behind the curve, and needed drastic action.

7. the January factor.

I never thought it would do this well, but I'm not going to complain. My worst day this year, I broke even when the Naz was down 104 points. (oils made up the gap)

I agree the economy is very concerning, but that doesn't necessarily mean the market is going down. My Naz target was 2,300. If it went to 1,800 I would have used margin, but I never expected it to decline in January.
