Hi Betty,
<OT> Yes, usually gifts of shares would be sold right away by most organizations. In these two cases there's a "steering committee" or B.O.D. that looks these things over before their brokers sell.

The actual transfers were done in the last couple of days of Dec., so that's my tax basis for the gifts. However, as it turned out, this was after their Dec. meetings, so nothing had been done as of the end of last week! I won't ever know when they do sell them, but assume it will happen soon (or may have already happened).

I just thought it was funny that their own methods caused them to make about a 40+% cap gain on my gifts! :-)

I accomplished what I wanted and they seem to have done okay by it also!

Best regards, Tom
