Colin, I agree that your interpretation is "fair", and what I would expect from a stock-picking contest. It's not clear if those are the actual rules, though. "best over % increase of the portfolio" is ambiguous, and may actually mean the %increase as computed by the SI portfolio, not manually. IMO, they should have given an example of the calculation, which would have made it unambiguous. If you are right (which is the way it should be) somebody is going to be sitting up late with a calculator.
