The Fed already has abandoned inflation fighting as its primary objective IMHO. They have never before begun to ease aggressively with commodity prices still quite elevated and unemployment exceptionally low by historic standards.

Keeping the bubble going as long as possible and preventing or at least severely restricting a long overdue and very necessary purging of the excesses built up since 1995 seems to be their primary objective now.

With the economy still weakening inflation is not a short-term threat. But I expect it to come back with a vengeance soon after the economy begins the next up cycle.

it tells you that most people are aware we have an inflation problem. the federales and the purveyors of financial porn may keep pushing the no inflation myth all they want. either people will push for higher wages or they will cut back on other spending.
