We can always tell when a thunderstorm is coming long before we can hear the thunder because Lizzie, our golden retriever, will start whining and pacing around anxiously, and then she hides somewhere - she prefers to hide under the desk when I am on the computer, but when she does that I know it's time to turn off the computer, so then she usually hides under my bed, or in a closet if one of the cats is under the bed (it's a popular spot).
