Samsung Takes Leadership Role in DDR Module Validations by a Factor of Five to One Business Wire - January 22, 2001 12:04 SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 22, 2001--According to data just released by Advanced Micro Devices, Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. leads the industry in the number of fully validated DDR SDRAM DIMM modules available by a ratio of Five to One over the next nearest supplier SMART. Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. has 10 fully validated modules available, providing both PC2100 and PC1600 speed ratings, compared to SMART's two modules, both of which are only validated for the lower speed PC1600 rating. According to the AMD data, three additional manufacturers between them have a total of four, predominantly low speed, modules available. All Samsung's DDR SDRAM DIMM memory modules have been validated for use with the AMD 760 and the VIA Apollo Pro266 and VIA KT266 chipsets. "DDR is a crucial element of Samsung's global memory strategy." Said Mian Quddus, Samsung's Director of Solution Enabling. "We intend to support the growing DDR market with the fastest and widest range of customer solutions available. Samsung's unequivocal support for our DDR customers is clearly demonstrated with our 256Mbit and 128Mbit PC2100 and PC1600 modules that we have in full production and are shipping right now." All Samsung's DDR SDRAM DIMM modules are available in either PC2100 or PC1600 speed rating to suit customer performance and price requirements. Samsung has an on-going program of continuous technology improvement and is currently developing both faster and denser modules to meet its customer's projected system requirements.
