I am not putting any money into stocks although I contributed cash to my Roth. What really worries me is that there may be extensive political and social unrest in the country, but I also worry too much! (small smile). Bush refuses to help western states with our power crises. Already, people lose their jobs. "The nation's new secretary of energy, Spencer Abraham, praised California on Friday for passing a $10 billion bond issue to buy electricity directly for consumers but said the Bush administration opposed federal measures that would control soaring wholesale power costs. " (from Yahoo news) Bush believes we need an energy policy. While that may be true, it takes time to develop and pass the necessary legislation. In the meantime, our economy will plunge because people have lost their jobs so tax cuts won't help them because they won't have any income. My husband had to fly down on LA on Wednesday evening. He said there weren't very many people on the plane and the flight b4 his was canceled. He stayed at a hotel that usually hosts conventions, but he said there was hardly anyone around! I wish I had gone with him. The hotel has a nice swimming pool and the water temperature must be 90! He returns today so it would have been a short trip for me. Anyway, if you plan any trips this summer you may get a great discount on hotels because business travel is very soft, according to what I read in Sunday's NYTimes..
