That analysis seems reasonable, but I would like to see how calculated that trend channel. Frankly, I think he should have taken it back further. Also his analysis is making the assumption that the trend channel prior to 1995 is irrevelant, which may be questionable.

The price is a math function of certain structure and the envelope shows the most likely continuation pattern of it based on a linearly priced index. Very interesting, however I strongly believe one should use logarithmic charts especially when we are talking about large moves in an index over a long period of time. I am sure that if this were done the conclusions would be different and far less optimistic! It would be interesting to see a comparison using logarithmic charts, as I believe they work better.
