I don't think there is any denial here. I think when a company sells on the open market they are suggesting that the stock is going to go down and they are cashing. When they give options to employee's it's an incentive and the expectation is that the stock will go up.

You're looking at this purely from a dilution point of view and if I put an accountant hat on I don't disagree with you - the dilution is the same. However, selling calls on the open market has a HUGE perception difference from that of providing options to employee's as an incentive. In fact they are completely juxtaposed - a complete 180.
