jb, your posts strike a chord with me. perhaps it was merely an error of judgment, perhaps the opp to bag a couple hundred mil. i can't blame anyone for either under their circumstances, but neither am i willing to necessarily sympathize with them given the consequences of those decisions. i must say that there are very few execs or former such who can find the kind of support he has found here. given the financial consequences to those who have provided such support, he should thank his lucky stars. jmo

I was one of the few people who voted against the merger with gnet/insp.

I think it was foolhardy to have such an expensive exit clause from the deal. I guess when ur at the top its easy to toss a few million here/there.

I voted against the aol / warner merger too.

couldn't agree with you more. In addition, if GNET's consumer business or whatever INSP is looking to divest itself of is doing so much business and growth, etc. they would not be letting it go. I don't think Jain is that stupid. I also don't think that either H or J wanted the company to go in this direction but sadly, that is the reality in the dotcom space.
not laying any judgement (moral or otherwise) on H, but the merger was a good way for him to get some liquidity for all his hard work. Can you imagine the furor if he started selling his stock in the open market?!? The writing was on the wall for dotcom stocks since May 2000. Just take a look at these message boards. Some of the large cap largely followed stocks have no posts since November.... pretty cold....
