I suspect that there is not a lot of cash involved in this transaction:

EarthLink to buy Netpliance's i-opener subscriber base

ATLANTA, Feb 28 (Reuters) - Internet service provider EarthLink Inc. <ELNK.O> said on Wednesday it would buy the subscriber base of Netpliance Inc.'s <NPLI.O> i-opener Internet "appliance."

The i-opener was one of the first Internet appliances --simplified machines with access to e-mail and some Internet services. Austin, Texas-based Netpliance subsequently left the Internet appliance sector, shifting its focus to high-speed Internet services.

I-opener subscribers will still have access to online resources but will be assigned an EarthLink account and e-mail address. The transition is expected to be completed by mid-March, the companies said.

No further details on the deal were immediately available.

EarthLink stock closed Tuesday at $8-31/32. Its 52-week range is $26 to $4-3/4. Netpliance stock closed at 5/16 Tuesday, more than 98 percent off its 52-week high of $26-1/8 and near a 52-week low of 3/16.
