In reality we all have to weigh the risks. Nothing is guaranteed in life except death and taxes. Options are a tool, some use it to make money... I'm sure you use them, companies use them to motivate workers to higher levels of performance. I have no problem with them, I like companies to use them constructively as in the case with Cisco.

We can debate the process ad infinitum. If we as investors don't like what's going on then we have the choice to invest them somewhere else. Life is not guaranteed! I cannot emphasize that enough! You know that. If there are fools out there, so be it! That's what makes a market.

If Cisco cannot make a product that people or companies don't want then the stock will go to Zero! Pure and simple.

If options concern you then don't invest in companies that grant them. I like the fact that companies grant them as they are another level to motivate employees to perform at a higher level.

My best friend is the chief technology officer at a company in the GPS field. He has been granted options from the very beginning of his employment and the purpose of this is to create "golden handcuffs". I think this is a great idea. The story of the guy nailing the door of his boss with a baseball is very telling. He didn't want to be a team player. He didn't want to do something good for the whole, he just wanted to enrich "his" self.

In the end what is the greater good....what's good for the individual or the self.

I don't think Cisco is warped, I believe they have created a model of success that rewards people who work hard. I used to work for the State of Washington for ten years and they didn't reward hard work. So my hats off to Cisco for creating an evironment that rewards hard work. The shareholders win in the end!

If you disagree, then that's your "opinion" and I grant you that.

I think the answer is obvious.
