pat-csco is THE only thing that the street will follow next week. As their guidance goes, the market will follow. If their guidance is very weak, 2001 will be a repeat of 2000. Hopefully, they will simply guide down a bit, widen their range, and caution, and we might be alright. Uncle Al to the rescue???

The inherent human need to be "right" is a powerful emotion that causes people to defend their position even in the face of mounting contrary evidence. That's what I attribute it to.

You conveniently ignore the fact that he has been right. He and others on TSCM said "stay away" several months ago. If you listened, you made (saved) money, simple as that. This board sounds much more like the "wrong" being in total denial to me.

The real problem seems to be the reader, namely many of you guys, and not the writer. Many of the calls writers at the TheStreet.com have made are short-term (less than 6 months) in orientation because that's the focus much of their readership has, that's what they pay to see. Many here just can't comprehend the difference because your orientation is obviously different, long-term. What's funny is that you make more fuss over a few negative stories than I've seen on any other SI board and yet you claim to be long-term players. I say get some help and figure out who you really are. Then, if you really think you're right as much as you claim to be, don't waste your time here! Go out and buy more JDSU now!!!

And before people pile on and slam me as a short, I neither long or short. I'm still watching JDSU and NT closely and waiting for the slowdown worry to subside before I buy. Not yet.

pat,

Re. TheStreet.com didn't originate the genre. George Gilder's made it an art form.

Speaking of sensational journalism - GG got his start as an assistant editor of the Harvard Crimson. <g>
