mst2000, I'm going to start a piece at a time myself. I'll just start with the 1st point that you may be misunderstanding (or I might be), and we will see if we can settle it. At the end, maybe we will both know more.

Section 102.166(4), Fla. Stat. (2000) provides that a request for a manual recount must be filed with the County Canvassing Board before the Board certifies the elections results or within seventy-two hours after the election, whichever occurs later.

Your position originally stated that they had until the SOS's certification, which is 7 days after the election. I believe the statute above is discussing when the canvassing board (not sos) certifies their own particular county (verification of their count if you will). I read it that the 72 hours is the further out of the two dates (generally speaking). I would like to settle this point because I have been under the impression that Al cruised in right under the 72 hour limit, and that added to the weasel factor for me. If they both had 7 days for a request that would at least change one thing I considered to be true.
