People have been having abortions for a long time, legal or illegal; there is no reason to suspect that they will stop having abortions simply because they are illegal,

Armed robbery, arson, rape, and assault and battery have not stopped just becuase they are illegal either. But I think that does not mean they should be legal. I do think that there would be a good deal less abortions if they were illegal. I agree there would be social costs to banning abortion. If I viewed abortion as being similar to drinking alcahol, or even if I viewed it as a horrible sin which is not a human rights abuse, (which is not BTW how I view drinking alcahol) I would not support making abortion illegal.
