I shouldn't have stuck up for him when you banned him the first time. But he kept saying he wasn't a conservative. Sorry about that. It was one of those extremely rare instances when I was over generous with my approbation. I will learn from this.

Forget it, Poet. We 'liberals' always tend to initially give positive benefit-of-doubt, I think, to all, especially including the 'conservatives' who don't deserve it -- they always, eventually, prove and exhibit their ' true colors.'

You are fair and generous almost to a fault. I have been saving this to post when you are here, and there is Peace,. Perhaps we can kick this around over the weekend?

Lately I have been thinking about "Picking My Battles Wisely" , and even the the Serenity Prayer comes to mind. Corny I know, but even platitudes have their origin in truth.

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Maybe we don't all that have much power individually, but if we were to agree that a couple of issues are important to us, and organize by pooling relevant events and information., joining in contact your senator movements, share bumper stickers, fliers, we might have a bit of an impact.

The large volume of posts about abortion indicate to me that that may well be a LW basic. Libertarians, and even a number of RW may disagree with abortion, but feel called to support a woman's right to her own body. Maybe that is issue number one. Not letting those rights be eroded.

I don't know how many other issues we can defend, but for me, a battle I choose is to influence the selection of replacement USSC droids. I don't think that the travesty that took place should result in the guilty parties rewarded with retirement in Arizona, and equally or even more consevative RW replacements. This may take more muscle than we have, but...

Maybe you all have other issues you would prefer to defend. Maybe we can't agree on one much less two. But I thought it would be cool if we coulkd work together.

The 60's live on.
