I can't say that I have extensive experience using the TICK and TRIN. I agree that both the TICK and TRIN are very effective indicators of overall market buying and selling pressure, and extremely responsive, preceeding major market moves. They are particularly effective when used with one another, however to me the interpretation is not at all as straightforward as it might seem at first glance.

Yes, but persistent market selloffs are also accompanied by extreme negative TICK readings which may persist for days, and TRIN readings below 1.0 are very common.

That's not at all to say these internal indicators are not useful, just that their signals require some study and experience, just as with any other signal or indicator. Otherwise, one invites disaster.
