Hi Pat,

Sorry, I wasn't intending to single you out with my post. In fact it was directed more at guys like TA and ZO.

I acknowledge there was some short-term money to be made in JDSU, NT and others but the call Cramer's been making doesn't really pertain just to the last few weeks, he's looking out several months. I've flipped in and out of JDSU many times as well, though not in January, but my real focus is catching a good six month or so run which I think will come when the demand picture becomes clearer. Until then the risk/reward is too high as JDSU can drop $10 in a flash if even any of their competitors has trouble. There are other stocks that won't clip you so unexpectedly.

I've only defended Cramer because I like what he's trying to do in terms of providing a look at how fund managers trade. I've worked for the same type of firm he used to and much of what he writes about is bang on with what other hedge funds are thinking & doing. As an individual he is certainly manic if not "unique" in his ability to strike a few nerves but I'm not defending the man as much as the content of his writings. I think many people here just can't handle the message, true or not. But hey, that's what makes a market.

As for does Cramer know who he is, I think he has a damn good handle on it. In his former trading role he was paid to fret about positions taken hours or minutes, not months. It only makes sense then that his position would change 99 times on JDSU or any other stock because he had to catch both the up and the down moves if he wanted to perform. That's the focus his profession and fund holders demanded. His writings simply reflect that focus. And guess what, that's what subscribers to his site pay him for.

I've been bullish on the fiber optics sector for three years and see no reason to change now.

I know that as I've been lurking around here pretty much since this board started. Believe it or not I'm not trying to talk you out of your position. In fact I'm probably just as long-term positive on the sector as you are. Short-term, that's a different story.

Good luck to you.
