Seems to me that I read somewhere that Hitler considered the Jews an inferior "race". That would take the religious connotation away, and cause racial bias to enter the picture.

It is true that christians suffered too, as well as Homosexuals, Gypsies and others. However, the root of Nazi hatred of the Jews stems from their religion and old hatreds relating to religion. This is why I think you could consider the Holocaust as religiously motivated.
