...proves the existence of market maker short selling and how destructive it is.

Robert,

Thanks for info/article.

... If this is your cup of tea, here is the plan.
Feb 5 to 9, all current shares owned, if not already,
get sent to you.

I have heard different stories on what can and cannot happen
to shares, so since its an easy i hope thing to do, just call
or send an e-mail to where you purchased gpxm and ask
what it will take so that they cannot be used by others
to short these shares.

I'm currently clueless on what one has to do, and hope that
it does not require me to physically take delivery of those
share certificates at my residence location since if i remember
correctly my e*trade account agreement will charge me a fee
of what i forget, but also i need to mail them back if i sell.

But if gpxm is being shorted and the above will jack-up it price,
then its something of the "One gotta do what one gotta do."

For the example in your post of (OTCBB FDKP)
i just read it's short lived si thread and some said
that there was no shorting, but the threat of squeezing
shorts caused the price to explode for what reason
i did not pick up.

Below is the chart of this stock and indeed you can see
the Empire State Building for volume, and don't know why
but its share price is now "belly-up."

Robert, i don't do funds or indexes and have no idea
what the above is.

Robert,

I contacted e*trade where i brought my gpxm shares
and asked under what conditions another person
could short my shares, and the man said that since
I have a cash account my shares cannot be shorted.

He said those with a margin account can have their
shares shorted unless they specify for it not to be,
and he said that when one opens a margin account
that the form filled out has this question asked.

ok, but if that question was asked then why do i get
the feedback from folks with margin accounts that
they are clueless on if their account can be shorted.

Maybe its because few know what a short is,
and maybe the way the question is asked
most folks say yes/ok to it thinking its for their good.

Botom line it seems is that a cash account cannot
have it shares shorted, but a margin account can
yes, but you can tell your broker not to allow shorting
on your margin account.

Since most people would rather leave the certificates
with the broker so that they do not have to worry
about losing them and not being then able to mail
them in for a sale, lets ask all people with margin
accounts to only inquire if their account is flagged
shortable or not, and if so then take off that right.
