My choices are limited..long, short, stay out..

I think that many new traders often forget the last choice, frequently doing nothing is the most important 'action' of all.

I think we are meaning the same thing with different language.

When I say predicting, it is as recognizing a pattern that one can trade with, such as an uptrend. Certainly that can be construed as a "prediction", since you're assuming a given pattern will play out in a specific way. Like predicting where a cannon ball will fall based on it's trajectory.
