hi patricia, i keep meaning to try that shutdown shortcut i posted to you, but i need to boot into win98se to do so. i gathered from the ensuing posts that the shortcut did not work for you as posted, but that pw provided a missing word or two to make it operational. sorry about that, i was pretty positive that that shortcut worked for me in w98 when i tested it. why don't you try that shutz2000 program that's been posted here and everyone likes so much? it's easy to install and to uninstall if you don't like. #reply-15272530 i wish things were working better for you, patricia. stick with it. keep us posted. and i thank you for the update! :) mark
