Joe, Intel beat AMD in SMP for the previous generation of CPUs. Let's see how the race develops for the current generation. So far, as they say British say, its nil : nil.

Fair enough. Like Paul said in a post today, though, the big OEMs have 5 years of SUCCESSFUL experience with Intel's SMP chips and chip sets. I might add that all of them would list Intel as one of their top 3 key alliance partners, whereas none would list AMD. Those things (key alliances) take time to build and they don't go away willy-nilly. Have to admit that Intel was fortunate when they couldn't build enough Xeons that there was nobody else that could pick up the slack.
