RE:"If you hadn't noticed, Gore also pushed for tax cuts, but only for middle-class citizens."

That's a stretch. Gore's tax cuts were definitely not middle class as he felt the middle class were "rich"..

Besides, boom or bust, Republicans will always be for a tax cut, and Democrats will always be against it (or at least for a smaller, more "targetted" cut).

Tenchusatsu,

As for tax cuts, I don't care whether its Bush or Gore, my understanding of their effectiveness in an economic downturn leads me to be against them. As for their motivation, I saw them as a kind of bribe of the electorate. I agree with Scumbria...pay down the debt.

The latest up here in terms of the energy problem is that the Republicans are telling our gov who is a dem to kick CA's gov who is a dem in the butt. That might be satisfying but I think we can't forget how interwined our fortunes are with CA's. [You probably already know that working for Intel]. CA is not like a poor, distant relative who you can kick out into rain. Their economy is an important and very intregral component of the total western economy. So, unfortunately, we now are a part of the problem and will have to help them work things out.

Too bad CA's gov to date has not manifested strong leadership qualities.....although I have to admit this is my first experience of him.
