But it is racist to talk about blacks , or inner city blacks more specifically- as if they were monolithic. They are not. And considering what was said here today about "their" lack of self-discipline, self-sacrifice and self-restraint- I'd have to say that acknowledging we are racist, and that racism has been part of the reason we have been less than progressive in this area, would be a step forward.
