<I think investors sold on fears about Cisco. In addition, the short interest has kept climbing on high PE tech stocks
in January. >

According to Iwatch, most of the activity on Friday was institutions, with buys outweighing sells. Hopefully they are happy enough with this price. At some point also the arbs have to close out their shorts on JDSU. Find it hard to believe that they just wait for deal closure, then take assignment of shares to cover the short, as has been suggested here in the past.

t2 very astute post and I agree with you. A sI was looking
at the trades last week , they where all small change for JDSU.
No big Institutional lots.
It was retail selling and Institutions buying.

For JDSU I see a buying opportunity tomorrow and
possibly Tuesday. I believe Wed we are likely to take off again
in preparation for SDLI merger announcements.
In regards to Short Interest on JDSU , it is the
No. 2, most shorted stock on the Nasdaq.

It is possible that if any good news comes out,
we may see a giant fireball up into the 70s
of shorts burning in the wind.
Remember, shorts are not immune to financial destruction.

As far as CSCO is concerned, any earnings shortfall
is already priced in the decline of 82 down to 32-35.
What do you think that decline was due to? Exactly what
happens Tues. So on the way down you sell the rumor and buy
the news. At 32-35 CSCO tomorrow or Tuesday will be a great buy.
Regardless of CSCO's sins, one thing going for them is size.
In the cruel business climate coming along you got to be big
to survive.

Note: Al of the above is my opinion , for the morons that
are unable to distinguish fact from opinion.
