Well I somewhat fixed my windows update problems by going to minimal security (thanks TC). Only problem is that it claims it doesn't have a valid certificate when I download a update. As I don't believe that MSFT will be putting much more win98 updates out thats going in the too small to care pile.

Heres a kickbutt reg cleaner with the cavet that I can see at least 10 ways to accidently harm your system, if you use it use caution but it's free and it found about 20 different invalid values. System seems much faster now although it could all be in my head :)
