The potential for an agreement in which Texas Instruments, QUALCOMM, and Nokia would be involved clearly became possible after QUALCOMM developed its RadioOne technology. Because CDMA2000 is more efficient than WCDMA, and because handsets will eventually become available with almost total compatibility with existing CDMA/GSM systems, this development should speed the adoption of 3G networks worldwide.
