Armistice president Brian Davidson told The Gazette, “We hope to have our plant recommissioned by the first week of April. Then we intend to go underground and repair any damage.” Increased activity at the mine site just west of town follows the infusion of $125,000 as part payment from a debenture with Aurelian Developers Ltd. The new initiative has put about half a dozen people back to work in this small community, Mr. Davidson said. In May, 1999, a mechanical failure sent the skip to the bottom of the shaft. “We’ve been barely running on one wing since,” the president reflected. Pumps will be serviced next month. The underground work is expected to be completed in time for the company’s annual meeting May 8 in Toronto. “At that time we hope to announce further funding plans,” Mr. Davidson said, adding a summer-fall work program will be put in place based on the funding secured by the company. Mr. Davidson said a two-year program has been set up towards getting the mine into full production. “We have a definite game plan to reach production,” he stated. This consists of an 18-month $10-million program to get the mine into operation. Currently, the gold-mining industry is listless because of low prices. However, the Armistice president is bullish about the future. “People are unanimous that the price is undervalued to what should be $300 plus prices,” he said. Last week gold prices hovered at $260 an ounce and the Armistice president admitted there’s no clue found yet about prices going up. Meanwhile, work continues on the Armistice site. The company has also appointed a new director — J. Ronald Woods. Mr. Woods brings to the company extensive experience in the natural resources sector including previous management positions with Conwest Exploration Co. Limited and Jascan Resources Inc. Recently, Armistice agreed to accept $250,000 in full settlement of all its claims on the Aurelian debenture which carried a non-interest principal amount of $991,432. > It would be nice to know if the share symbol has changed again?
