I don't know whether ketosis is good for dieters in general, but for me it's a good sign, it means I am burning fat.

Right, voluntarily induced ketosis when following the Atkin's diet indicates that body fat is being metabolized and the person is losing weight... this happens after the person stops all intake of carbohydrates for about two days... using those keto sticks, the deeper the purple color, the deeper into ketosis, and the better for the dieter... this is completely different than the involuntarily ketosis of the diabetic.....<g> Studies have shown that with a voluntarily induced state of ketosis, more body weight can be lost than when compare to a total starvation diet... the dieter then does not feel hungry and is in effect "living off the fat of the land"..... something akin to the bear in hibernation who can live off his own body fat and not feel hungry..... this is an interesting phenomenon.....
