Bad analogy notwithstanding, the emotional impact on those you accuse is no less hurtful.

And for the very reasons you cite, you have more available room to use the term in a hurtful and damaging way, over a greater range of people.

Bland is not sure he sees a positive purpose for that.

X, Bland was making a comparison based on degree, not on kind. That's what we're talking about here. Racist is an way too strong and emotionally charged a word to use for alleged "shallow understanding from people of good will."
