Joe, You may recall Republican Congress and Clinton shutting down the government over their disagreement whether to spend it all and make the balancing the budget a 21st century proposition (Clinton) or whether to balance the budget immediately by holding the line on spending (the Republicans). Your interpretation is exactly incorrect. Clinton shut down the Government to reduce the size of the Republican tax cut, once again rescuing them from their own self-destructive behavior. Looks like no one is there to rescue them this time. Scumbria
