Dan,

"do you think I'm on the right track?"

Well, I hope that one of the heavyweights like Paul DeMone will jump in on Ace's Technical Forum and comment. However, I would not exclude the possibility that you are more right than even the great Paul DeMone in his analysis of the Pentium 4 architecture.

A comment by Tenchnusatsu would also be interesting.

Oh, and there is someone else I'd like to hear on this topic: Hans de Vries. He wrote a rather sceptical paper about the yet unreleased Pentium 4. He got severely criticized for that. Main stream thinking at that time was that the Pentium 4 "will send shock waves through the industry" (Paul DeMone). I think that Hans de Vries was the first to question this assumption.

Peter

Edit: Oh, sorry, Scumbria is also one of the very big heavywights. I am glad that he made a comment.
