diana, I believe you are mistaken on those short interest figures. Those were January short interest numbers---for trades settling around January 15. This data gets released by the end of the same month--saw it change to January about 1 1/2 weeks ago..

This is a Nasdaq site that gets the information out ASAP.
If one checks it regularly, you can see the date it changes to February. Have to read more at this site to determine the exact date the data gets out for Nasdaq stocks. To the best of my knowledge, this is the source for the the latest short interest data on nasdaq stocks.

For NYSE stocks, I stick to Yahoo company profile or other sites. Release dates are similiar for NYSE.
