"Exclusive of non-recurring charges, Veeco reported fully diluted earnings per share of $0.39 ($0.41 per share pre SAB-101) in the fourth quarter of 2000 versus $0.29 per share in the fourth quarter of 1999; and exceeded the First Call consensus of $0.33 per share.

Fourth Quarter 2000 Results

Bookings: Veeco's fourth quarter bookings were a record $183.7 million, an increase of 113% over bookings of $86.3 million reported in the fourth quarter of 1999. Breakdown of bookings by market was as follows: optical telecommunications 48%, semiconductor/research 31%, and data storage 21%. Veeco's Process Equipment bookings in the fourth quarter were a record $126.8 million and Metrology bookings were a record $54.7 million. "
