I have numerous reasons to distrust doctors, although, of course, one sometimes has no choice. My wife, unfortunately, has been at their mercy for various things for quite awhile, and I have had several reasons to sue for malpractice, except that the results were not dire. One guy subjected her to recurring surgery for polyps in her sinus cavities, but when she switched doctors, it turned out that for at least a couple of those years, the matter was manageable by drugs. Admittedly, it was outpatient surgery, and relatively low risk, but it was invasive, and painful, and had some risk to the optic nerve. On another occasion, another of her doctors prescribed something contraindicated and potentially harmful for someone on blood pressure medication, which she was on. She found out because a younger doctor, on call in the evening, actually expressed alarm to find out about the incompatible prescriptions. These are only a couple of the stories I could tell......I will keep in mind your recommendation if I fall ill again. Convalescence has dragged out some, but I am almost well, if still a bit tired........I will check out "What Lies Beneath" sometime. You make it sound interesting.......
