Dear Kerry: I am 57 years old and can attest that I have witnessed exactly what that article conveys. I remember in the 50's my mother became a Controller and I was embarassed that she even worked. Later my mother and father seperated (Divorce was a no no then) and I was embarassed to even admit my father was not at home, I made up all kind of excuses. Today, I think I have read nearly 50% of all kids in school are living with a single caregiver?? As to SEX, forget it, the morales of this country have sunk to the lowest eschelon of society and as a result we have a multitude of sins which plague us. Homeless families, single women with multiple children on welfare, crime, drugs the whole enchilada of social ills. Public school systems are not bad because they are bad, they are bad cause the Parents are not there and even if they are there they dont participate. Children run amok with "rights". When I was a kid ANY ADULT if he felt you misbehaved could give you a licking, NOW even if a PARENT gives there child a licking they stand a good chance of a visit from the authorities. I could go on but its too dreary. JDN
