There is no "new" news in that article you've posted. It has all been said before, it is redundant, it is "old" news, something a first year student in Samuelson's Economics 101 could easily do a dissertation on these days ... that is, if they still have business courses that use Samuelsons.

Every business and financial magazine has done at least one article similar to that one. At least every site on the Internet that deals with big companies has an article like that buried somewhere within its site that you can glean out with an archives search...keyword...LUCENT. Bah humbug!

Incidentally, I worked for the behemouth (sic) system (Western Electric and AT&T) for over 35 years before taking advantage of an early buyout several years ago. My 401K reflects the good times after leaving and the bad since then. After I retired the part of the system I worked in became LUCENT and soon will be AGERE.

I think we'll be down here in the mud for quite some time to come. I'm hoping to gain a little bit back when they spin off AGERE, however there is such negativity about this company that doing that might not help one iota.

The soaring technology market pulled Lucent along in the late 1990s, masking its internal weaknesses

And HWP has one of them at the helm now. Wonder if she will be investigate for irregular acct practices.
